Web design trend watching

this is index.php

Web design is constantly evolving and creativity is once again taking over. But all the visual and other bells and whistles should not thwart the user-friendliness. Check out some trends:

Designers for president!
Brands and companies recognize the impact of strong design on their digital appearance. This ensures that they give designers more space on their web canvas. A strong design that fits in nicely with the brand promise offers added value to every brand.

The thumb as BFF
Smartphone users want to be able to use their device with one hand. That’s why thumb-friendly navigation is a point of attention: put important buttons in the ‘thumb-friendly zones’.

All colors of the rainbow
Dutch orange, Chiquita yellow and lime green? From CTA buttons to full screen experiences, pops of color burst from the screens. Yet soft, harmonizing color combos still score. As long as the color range produces tasteful color mixes.

XL headlines, big body copy
The bigger, the better? The attention span of website visitors is still declining. Striking headlines and large, thick fonts – also in the body text – should attract and hold attention.

Wrote with a dash
For the sake of readability, sans serifs (serif fonts) were not recommended online. But because screens have an increasingly higher resolution, that objection also disappears.

Wacko typocombo’s
Yet another typographical ‘not done’ – the mixing of serif and serif fonts – is allowed to go overboard. With Type Connection you can check if your serif and sans serif fonts match.

Be bold: get rid of the balance
To counter the uniformization of web designs – which would benefit SEO and UX – asymmetrical and disruptive designs appear more often. Just make sure you master the rules before you throw them overboard!

Off grid: lines outside the lines
Thanks to innovative techniques you can now work ‘off grid’ – deviate from the standard webshop blocks – and still create a good responsive website.

Out of stock
Stock photos are now so mainstream that it is difficult to make a difference with them. Unique, home-brewed visuals are your go-to.

Personal landing pages as entry point
The static homepage loses relevance at the expense of more dynamic entry points. Based on all collected data about visitors, more and more personalized landing pages appear on the scene.

Video headers
Video headers are gaining in popularity, especially homemade videos with a strong story. Particle backgrounds are also used more often, especially because they load faster than the average heavy video files.

Animation, illustration and video
Animations, illustrations and video make your story more visually appealing and enhance the transfer of information. Square and vertical video formats are on the rise, especially on social media. Websites and apps will follow soon.
